Tanzania Equity Watch | 28 July 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index falls by 1.10% and loses US$119 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) declined by 28.26 points or 1.10 percent to close at 2,551.24 points and the Tanzanian domestic Share Index remained unchanged to end at 4,531.63 points. Likewise, Banks, Finance & Investment sector index remained flat to settle at 3,012.96 and the industrial & Allied sector index stayed putted at 6,066.72 points. Commercial Services sector index also remained flat to end at 3,953.28 points.
The market capitalization went down by almost TZS 246 billion (about US$119 million) to end at TZS 22,324 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,570 billion recorded at the previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock registered a total turnover of TZS 53.50 million from 129,173 shares traded in 78 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 63.27 million from 76,162 shares traded in 63 deals. Investors bought and sold 128,138 CRDB shares, DCB Commercial Bank had 690 traded shares; and Swissport Tanzania Limited registered 104 shares.
The market strength/breathe ended negative today, with zero gainers and 5 losers. KCB Group was the top loser with a price reduction of 3.54 percent at TZS 1,090. Acacia Mining Limited ended at TZS 7,520 after losing 2.84 percent, News Media Group plunged by 2.31 percent to settle at TZS 3,800 and Jubilee Holdings Limited fell by 1.73 percent to conclude at TZS 11,380.00. East African Breweries Limited also tumbled by 0.17 percent to trade at TZS 5,900.00.
